Thursday Beach Parties, Everyone Welcome, Free Admission!

Beach Parties

Each Summer on Thursday evenings the Crow's Nest offers its Summer Beach Party series with fun and funky live entertainment, right on the beach. The party starts at 5:30pm each week and goes until sunset. With live entertainment on the outdoor beach stage, and Crow's Nest's famous BBQ and outdoor bar, beach parties are a unique and popular event. Families are welcome, and there is no admission charge! After the sun sets the fun begins upstairs with dancing to the best of local live bands.

Beach Party Dates:

Thursdays, May 31st to August 30th, 2018

For the beach parties, parking is very limited. Walk, ride a bike, get dropped off, take a cab or ride the bus, but leave the car at home. If you must drive, please do not park in local neighborhoods, or on private property. Thank you!

San Francisco Comedy Competition

Comedy Competition

Crow's Nest features live comedy, with talent from the national circuit, every Sunday night year-round. Each September, Crow's Nest is proud to host the San Francisco Comedy Competition, where on two Sundays 10+ very funny comedians give you their best schtick.

Coldwater Classic Week

Cold Water Classic

Each year in the Fall, surfers from around the world compete in the O'Neill Coldwater Classic contest, and Santa Cruz is all about surfing! Crow's Nest is a popular after-party venue where athletes and surfing aficionados can mingle and celebrate together.

Wharf to Wharf Race

Wharf to Wharf

In July, this world-class 6-mile footrace brings thousands of athletes to Santa Cruz to compete along the local shoreline. Dubbed "The Best Little Roadrace in California," this scenic waterfront route features entertainment by over 40 live bands along the way. Runners pass directly by Crow's Nest where they are serenaded by the first band to ever play the race: The Crow's Nest Pot and Pan Band.

Join us in early December to kick off the holiday season with the Lighted Boat Parade. This festive event takes place on the first Saturday in December right after dusk, as scores of decorated boats parade around the Harbor, complete with humorous themes, twinkling lighted masts and rigging, and even a sighting of Santa and some reindeer. Come grab a hot chocolate and a ringside seat for this one-of-a-kind show.

Tour the Tall Ships

Tall Ships

Spectacular tall ships stop at Crow's Nest on their Pacific tour and berth on the dock right outside our dining room windows. The Topsail Ketch "Hawaiian Chieftain," complete with crew in period costume, is a replica of a European merchant trader widely used at the turn of the 19th century. The "Lady Washington" has also graced the Santa Cruz Harbor, the same Asian-Pacific trading replica seen in the popular film "Pirates of the Caribbean." Pictured is the amazing hand-built reproduction of Columbus' sailing ship "Nina," on the deck of which an intrepid crew of 25 made the epic trans-atlantic journey in the 15th century. Tours, sails, and even mock cannon battles are available to the public.

Frithjof Wiese

Scenery outside our windows is ever-changing and always interesting. Here is the "Frithjof Wiese" — a newly-restored 80-year-old Norwegian ketch constructed of 60 tons of Douglas fir and white oak, visiting Crow's Nest on the first leg of its maiden voyage around the world.
